Can I see a Clarity heatmap for just returning visitors vs new ones?
I want to compare how returning visitors interact with a landing page against first-time visitors, using Clarity heatmaps rather than teh recordings.
Can the Croct audience a visitor matched drive that split, so I get one heatmap for returning and one for new?

Yes. The audience a visitor matched is one of the dimensions Croct sends to Clarity, so you can filter Clarity heatmaps by it. Build a returning-visitor audience and a new-visitor audience in Croct, and then in Clarity you get a click and scroll heatmap for each segment side by side.
Audiences are evaluated in real time as CQL conditions, so the match is decided per interaction and rides along to Clarity with the session.
For the returning vs new split we used two very simple audiences. The returning one is basically:
user is returningand the new one is the negation, not user is returning. Once those exist as audiences the matched one shows up on the Clarity side to filter heatmaps by. If you want more nuance on where that line sits between returning and truly anonymous, the thread on defining returning vs anonymous audiences goes deeper.
perfect, set up both audiences and the two heatmaps are already telling different stories. thanks
