Do I need to build a VTEX IO app to connect Croct, or is there a simpler way?
we run a mid-size store on VTEX and the Croct integration just showed up on my radar. my first assumption was that connecting it meant building a VTEX IO app, getting it reviewed and published, the whole cycle.
that is a lot of work for something I thought would be a tracking setup, so before I scope it with the team I want to confirm. is publishing an IO app actually the path here, or is there something lighter I am missing

There is no IO app to build. The VTEX integration is set up with a single Croct tag added in Google Tag Manager, firing on all pages. There is no VTEX Hub or marketplace listing to install and no store code changes are required: the tag listens to your VTEX store events and forwards them to Croct.
Once the tag is live you can confirm it end to end on the dashboard Integration page, which shows a green "Received traffic in the past 24 hours" indicator as soon as events start arriving.
The full steps are in the VTEX integration guide, and the tag itself is documented in the Google Tag Manager setup.
Can confirm from our rollout last week. We did exactly the GTM route, one tag set to fire on all pages, and skipped IO entirely. No app submission, no review queue. Events were showing on the Integration page the same afternoon.
