Which Croct plan do I need for the Storyblok Optimize app?

Asked by Nathan Brooks on

I am the CTO at a small startup, we run our marketing site on Storyblok and are planning to roll out A/B testing next quarter. Before I talk to sales I want the budget picture straight. Which Croct plan does the Optimize app pair with, and what does that tier actually add over Growth? Also want to confirm there is no requirement on the Storyblok side, we are not on one of their top plans

The Storyblok Optimize app pairs with a Croct account on the Scale plan.

Scale is custom pricing, so the exact number depends on your volume, but here is what it includes beyond Growth:

  • Custom MAU, content slots, and experiments (Growth is capped at 20k MAU, 20 slots, and 15 experiences or experiments)
  • 60-day profile explorer instead of 30-day
  • Event-based segmentation
  • Dynamic content placeholders
  • Scheduled publishing
  • Premium support

On the Storyblok side there is no plan requirement: the Optimize app works with all Storyblok plans. Storyblok's own native Experiments feature is gated to their Premium and Elite tiers, but that gating does not apply to the app.

For the full plan breakdown, see the Croct pricing page. There is also a thread covering what Scale adds over Growth in more detail.

One nuance worth adding for budgeting: the Scale requirement is specific to the in-CMS Optimize app. The SDKs and the overlay model itself (mapping blocks to slots and serving variants) work on any Croct plan, including the free one. We prototyped our whole setup on the free tier from the frontend side before the company committed, then moved to Scale when the marketing team wanted to run everything from inside Storyblok.
