Scheduling a Black Friday experience on Storyblok content ahead of time

Asked by Bruno Tavares on

Every year the same story: someone stays up until midnight to flip the Black Friday hero, and every year something goes sideways at 00:03. This year I want zero humans awake for it.

Our hero is a Storyblok block already connected to a Croct slot. Two things I want to set up in advance: the Black Friday hero should go live at midnight automatically, and visitors arriving from our email campaign should get a special variant with their early-access code messaging. What exactly can be scheduled, and what does the campaign condition look like? asking now because november me will not have time

Both parts of this can be prepared entirely in advance.

For the midnight flip, build the Black Friday experience now and schedule its publication. Scheduled publishing is available on the Scale plan, which the Storyblok integration already requires, and a scheduled experience shows the Scheduled status in the dashboard until its window starts. No one needs to be online when it activates.

For the email arrivals, create an audience on the campaign context. The condition depends on how you tag your links, but either of these works:

campaign's source is "email"

or, if you want to match the specific campaign regardless of source:

campaign's name matches "black-friday"

Attach the early-access variant to that audience within the experience, and everyone else gets the general Black Friday hero.

One reassurance for the 00:03 scenario: your regular Storyblok hero remains the fallback before, during, and after the campaign window. If anything is misconfigured, visitors see the normal hero rather than a broken page, and when the experience ends the site returns to the default automatically. You can verify the whole setup beforehand with a preview link from the experience editor.
