Do extra team members cost anything, or is pricing purely traffic-based?
Direct question before I onboard people. I have four marketers joining the digital team this quarter and I want all of them working in Croct.
My last two vendors charged per seat on top of traffic, so adding people to the tool was a budget conversation every time. Does inviting four more users to our Croct workspace change our bill, or is the pricing purely based on site traffic?
if seats are metered somewhere I would rather know now than at renewal.

Seats are not one of the published meters. The plan quotas are MAU, content slots, and experiences/experiments: the free plan includes 10k MAU, 3 slots, and 1 experience or experiment; Growth includes 20k MAU, 20 slots, and 15 experiences or experiments; Scale is custom on all three.
The confusion usually comes from the word "users". Croct MAU counts unique users who interact with your SITE, meaning visitors, not people logged into the dashboard. Your four marketers browsing the admin all day do not move any meter.
Beyond quotas, the plan differences are features rather than headcount. Growth adds the audience estimator, experience segmentation, bot traffic filtering, and pay-as-you-go overage. Scale adds scheduled publishing, event-based segmentation, dynamic content placeholders, and premium support.
So invite the team. The bill question only comes back if your site traffic grows past the plan's included MAU, which is a different and much nicer problem.
