Clearbit is connected but company fields come through empty, what am I missing?

wired up the Clearbit connection expecting industry and company data to start showing in audiences, but teh fields are blank for every anonymous visitor. no errors anywhere, the connection itself looks fine.

feels like I skipped a prerequisite on the Clearbit side. what do I need in place for the anonymous firmographic data to actually get captured?

Clearbit needs Reveal installed for the anonymous firmographic data to be captured. Reveal is the piece that resolves an anonymous visitor to a company from their network, so without it there is simply no company-level data to hand to Croct. That is why the fields are blank even though the connection looks healthy: the connection is fine, the source data is just not being produced.

Install Reveal, and the firmographic attributes start populating and become targetable in CQL like any other audience condition. Until the data resolves for a given visitor, those variables are undefined and evaluate to false, so the visitor just does not enter the firmographic audiences rather than erroring. There is a good example of the industry value-prop side once it is flowing in Clearbit Reveal driving industry value props.

that fixed it. Reveal was never installed on our side, added it and the industry field is populating now. thanks

Same story for us, the fields filled in almost immediately after Reveal went live. Give it a bit of real traffic before you judge the coverage though, not every anonymous visitor resolves to a company, so a chunk will always stay blank and fall through to your default content. That is normal, not a Reveal problem.
