How is MAU counted for billing? Pageviews, sessions, or unique users?
I am auditing meter definitions across our vendors before renewal season. We were on the VWO free plan, which was eliminated after the AB Tasty merger in January, and the new quote we received is not exactly transparent about what is being metered, so I am now checking every tool's definition carefully.
For Croct specifically: does MAU mean unique users, sessions, or pageviews? Some analytics tools call pageviews "events" and bill on those, so I do not want to assume. And what happens if we go over the included volume in a given month? Thanks in advance.

MAU in Croct means unique users who interact with your site in a month. It is not pageviews and not sessions, so a visitor who opens fifty pages across ten sessions in the same month counts as one MAU.
Two related points for your audit:
- Extra volume is purchasable. The Growth plan includes pay-as-you-go overage, so exceeding the included 20k MAU in a month becomes a billing line rather than a service interruption.
- Known bots do not count toward MAU on paid plans with bot traffic filtering enabled, so crawler traffic does not inflate the meter. See bot exclusion for details.
